Another Twist in the Pennhurst Tragedy as Hospital Administrator Disappears A Month After FBI Interview
Associated Press, April 24, 1999 — There is a chilling new development today in the disappearance of Devon, a thirteen-year-old-girl, from Pennhurst Asylum. Just a few months after Devon vanished while preparing to return to her parent’s home in Georgia, the man who oversaw her care Dr. Carter Shaw has also disappeared.
The FBI has refused to comment on the recent development. Though, a source inside the agency said Shaw has been interviewed and the agency was getting ready to detain him. While there is no definitive connection between Shaw and the disappearance of the girl, the pattern of abuse in the institution began with his tenure.
