Public Urged to Exercise Caution as Manhunt for Missing Girl Continues

Spring City, January 22, 1999 — The Spring City Police Department provided the public with a stark warning at yesterday’s press conference about the girl missing from the Pennhurst Asylum on Wednesday.

Sheriff Michael Tibbido advised residents “to be on the lookout for a thirteen-year-old girl who ran off following an altercation with hospital staff.”

First reported exclusively by this paper, authorities announced on Thursday they were searching for a girl who is missing from the Pennhurst Mental Asylum. “Devon”, as the girl is being referred to, was last seen on Wednesday when hospital staff were preparing to return her to her parents in Georgia.

No information was given as to the altercation which led to the girl running off, and authorities have remained tightlipped about the reason for her incarceration. This choice has been heavily criticized by locals since the story broke late Wednesday.

Sheriff Tibbido advised that any resident who believes they have seen “Devon” should contact the police immediately and are urged to exercise caution. As this story continues to develop, the public should route all questions to the non-emergency number 555-3285.
